Two New Gallery Openings Highlight Next First Friday Art Walk - MAY 2
The “State of the Art” continues to expand with two new gallery openings
on Binghamton’s State Street, also known as Artists’ Row, and on Lewis
Street in former Lackawanna train station at the next First Friday on May 2. Mixed
media paintings, photography and giclee prints will be featured at Atomic
Tom’s (196 State St.) with artist Margot Datz in the former Box Factory Gallery
location, and at The Gallery at Lackawanna Station (45 Lewis St.) with the
artists Kirk and Lesli VanZandbergen, David Skyrca, and Steven Palmer (who are
formerly from Box Factory Fine Art Gallery).
This First Friday, presented by the Gorgeous Washington Street
Association (GWSA) and sponsored by M&T Bank, will feature 46 locations open from 6-9
p.m. Most First Friday venues are located in downtown Binghamton, as well as on
the westside and southside, in Johnson City at Theo’s Restaurant, just west of
the city border. Also open May 2, Late Night Binghamton on the Binghamton
University campus in Vestal from 10 p.m.-2 a.m., and in Windsor, NY, at Windsor
Whip Works Art Gallery (98 Main St.) from 3-5 p.m. The May 2 First Friday

There are free BC Transit Trolley rides, starting at Phelps Mansion
Museum (191 Court St.) on First Friday: Parlor City Guided Trolley Tours from 6-7
and 7-8 with tour guides Joan Sprague and Kathy Luther from the Preservation
Association (PAST), followed by the regular trolley route, 8-9. Trolley riders
can get on or off at any time and can flag the trolley to stop on the trolley
route during First Friday. Broome County Executive Barbara Fiala is
underwriting the BC Transit Trolley during this First Friday.
